I Want to Believe

Every round of the Liaison Collaborative always seems to top itself with each new theme and the latest round of The Garden has proven no different! It's the best thing I've seen in Second Life in a long time with so many fun, exciting things centered around the current theme - Area 51. Creativity is at an all time high here! Not just with the color theme, but with the wide array of FUN items. I think my favorite items in this round are the flying saucers from Pixel Mode and the alien chairs from the creative team at 22769. There are also rideable rocket ships, playgrounds for children, an amazing build from Barnesworth Anubis, retro fifties items, desert themed furnishings, a trailer home from Cheeky Pea...the list goes on! Check out the Liaison Collaborative's blog for a complete list of participating stores.

Galactic Beauty

Here is my inspiration of for my Storybook Saturday! I've always loved the Twi'lek race of the Star Wars lore. Return of the Jedi is the first memory I have of seeing a movie in the movie theater, and even though I was really young, I think the scene of Oola and Jabba always left an impression on my child's brain. Here's some Twi'lek info from the 'official' Wookiepedia:

Twi'leks (pronounced /'twilÉ›k/), sometimes referred to disparagingly as"Tail-heads", were an omnivorous humanoid species originating from the planet Ryloth. They tended to eat cultivated molds, fungi, and rycritmeat. Their distinctive features included colorful skin, which varied in pigment from individual to individual, and a pair of shapely prehensile tentacles that grew from the base of their skulls. The tentacles, called "brain-tails", "lekku", "tchun-tchin", or "head-tails" were advanced organs used for communication and cognitive functions. Twi'leks possessed a fairly standard humanoid vocal structure and were capable of learning most alien languages; however, they usually preferred their native language of Ryl, which incorporated subtle movement of the lekku. When they wished, they could even communicate in complete secrecy using their versatile brain-tails. Twi'lek females were often used as slaves or dancers because of their beauty.

Did you know that there's a new Star Wars SIM opening? I didn't! It's called New Alderaan & Bakura. I'm told from one of the SIM owners that the official opening of the city 'New Alderaan' opens on this coming Tuesday, but the capital 'Bakura' is still under construction. There are many faction groups to join - everything from the galactic army to the seedy doings of the cantinas. If you want to look around, here is your taxi.

Captain on the Bridge!

I have been DYING to get over Cinema for one item (not to discount all the amazing things for sale at Cinema!) but I am a die hard trekkie. Seriously. My mother was a classic Star Trek nut and so I grew up watching the old crew on TV Land re-runs. Then TNG came into play - it was our favorite show. We'd watch it together, my sister, my mother, and I. Then came DS9! And Voyager! Enterprise!

Out of all the series, I loved the looks of the classic the best. Especially the women. I mean what's not to love about space babes in the military wearing sexy boots, mini dresses, and tights? Lets not forget the righteous make up and the giant hair. I loved the instruments they used and how space age and technological things were interpreted - it makes me wonder what Gene Roddenberry would think of today's iAnything.

I couldn't just wear the dress, so I found a pretty awesome replica of the old fashioned tricorder (it even makes the whirrring noise) and a freebie communicator (it doesn't have SIRI, sorry). Also? I found the best bridge builds at a pretty awesome store called Herbit Creations. He has many builds that are rezzer ready for the Horizon holodeck.

And the color gold? In the older series 'Gold' was the color of command rather than engineering/ops. In TNG, commanders and Engineers swapped colors. I'm the ****ing captain.

Dilly Dolls Bot Babe

The latest released from Dilly Dolls includes a healthy quantity of one of my favorite things: Thigh high boots. For some reason, I slip on a pair of thigh high boots and I feel like saving the galaxy from an epic enemy force. I feel like a super hero. A sexy super hero. But, that's just me. The boots come in plenty of vibrant colors and metallics.

Dilly Dolls also released eyes. I've been debating: I am not sure if I can really compare mesh prim eyes to prim eyes to system eyes, because my normal every-day system eyes seem to catch as much light as mesh ones. Nonetheless, I have a huge inventory of eyes. I love them! They change the entire look of your avatar which is awesome for photographs and themes. These are the Kell, which are color change via a HUD. But, I loved the dollish look of the white the most.
