Vintage


 Collabor88's stunning new celebratory round has only recently come to my SL list of things to do. Mostly this is because of technical problems I've been experiencing and I didn't want to crash every thirty seconds. Despite the amazing and awesome things available to shoppers, my favorite item is the dress from ISON. Anything that takes me to the glam of vintage deco is a top favorite for me.

The theater I am standing in is part of the Looking Glass' shopping district. Despite being an older build, it's still a beautiful place to visit, though I'm not sure how long this gem in SL will be here as it appears the Looking Glass is moving locations.

Also, the windlight I am using here is called Epi Vintage Windlight. It is part of William Weaver's phototools and is already integrated into the latest version of firestorm. However, if you would like to get the windlight, see William Weaver's website on the Resources page.

I Can Hear the Cicadas


Do you know what a cicada is? For a very brief time in my life, my mother moved my sister and I to Oklahoma where I first experienced the lazy summertime hum of cicadas, only we called them jar flies. Mostly because as children we liked to capture the docile bugs and put them in jars and keep them as very part-time pets. Jar flies sort of fascinated me because they were both ugly and adorable at the same time. What's also unique about them is that they shed their exoskeletons and leave behind perfect replicas of themselves which we loved to find in tree limbs and hold/examine them.

They have a very distinct sound that they make. It's a loud chorus of humming and the sound seems to just go along with the summertime heat. You know you're in late summer when the long days finally give over into evening and the sun goes down with the drowning choir of cicadas. I was reminded of this as I walked along Hazardous.


In case you've been under a rock, the grid is all about hair right now. Truth released five new beauties just as Hair Fair 2013 opened it's doors to the public. I'm wearing one of those new Truth's right now. It's called Chilali. It's super cute and way fun. If short hair is not your thing, there's a longer version called Mina.

Meadows of Heaven

I saw this SIM called The Trace on the Destination Guide. I liked the lonely hill side on the picture so I decided to check it out. It delivers all that says and then some. If you enjoy beautiful gardens in Second Life and are looking for a new place to bring your camera, The Trace might be a good place to keep in your landmark folder.

Oceanside Blues


I've got the blues. No, I don't mean the sad sort of blues. Today, I'm inspired by bright, vibrant blues. Especially aquas, teals, and of course, red. I was looking for a lovely seashore to take my picture at and I came across Studio Skye's SIM, which is the store brand's location to purchase wonderful landscapes for your own SIM for pretty good prices. Even if you do not find something you wish to purchase, the SIM itself is a lovely garden of landscapes detailing their products.

In case you're wondering, my long hair comes from the batch of the latest Truth releases. It's called 'Tawny' and I love the length of it.

Keepsake



I was browsing flickr to check out the latest photographs from all of my contacts when I came across this lovely photo of Keepsake. Immediately my eyes were drawn to the "Now open" and "Contest" descriptions so I followed the SLURL to check out the destination, my camera in tow. 

The SIM hosts a mix of lush gardens, spring flowers, oriental architecture, blends of rustic countryside, exotic animals, and plenty of places to lounge around and socialize with your friends. It's really pretty and fresh with the beauty of Spring. Drop by and bring your own camera so you can post your contest photos on  Keepsake's flickr.

Think Spring


There's no doubt that the grid is ready for spring. Spring landscapes. Spring styles. Spring events. We're all looking forward to March and April themed things and wishing away the bitter cold of winter (at least those who know what it feels like unlike myself :P) ColdLogic is the first I've seen to amp us all up for spring fashions with the release of their fun, sunny-colored dresses and cardigan blends. You can grab a demo at their inworld store. Also, if you haven't subscribed to their group, make sure you do! Not only are their two fabulous dresses for free, the ColdLogic team is also hosting a photo contests and the prize is pretty attractive. In fact, this picture is my first entry.

I mentioned that the grid is blooming with Spring - especially with "It Starts with a Smile", the home of blogger and photographers Kaelyn Alecto and Maxxster. It's open to visitors and provides a beautiful backdrop with many scenes for SL photographers.

The Beauty of the Hazardous


Have you been to Hazardous? If you haven't, make sure to mark your landmarks for this. Hazardous is the newest creation by the designers of HuMaNoId. I first heard of it from my fellow blogger Kaelyn, and being the photo junkie that she is, I knew I had to head right on over there. Honestly, I could have remained in the landing zone pictured above for hours, the beauty of it's message inspiring on it's own, however I teleported down (and rather comically to by way of the teleporter.)



The SIM is breathtaking. There's a message here (and by message I do not mean the comical signs posted once you teleport down) written in the landscape. Of old and new. The decor is mainly of decaying man- made items amidst the new, lush greenery. There are plenty of fun places to explore including the movie nook, the tilted light house, the canyon, and the cliff-side piano. The bottom of the cliffs has the same feel as Neva River (a beautiful SIM now closed) had and so I am happy to see that artistic element back in Second Life. If you love HuMaNoId, you will love this beautiful place. Special thanks to the lovely Zubida for posing below.

Pose Fair Preview - Just Visiting




When I first started making poses, I wanted to make poses that would inspire beautiful photographs. However, I got more into making poses for bloggers - and mostly ones that were more useful to me than others. Pose fair is giving me a chance of breaking away from that stigma and really pushing my personal envelope into more artistic and inspiring animations. Here is a first preview of one of the many variants of this soft sit. 

I spent awhile trying to figure out where to take my picture, and my adventures had me scoping out older faves (with some of them closed) and seeking out newer sims. My favorite groups to hunt down SIM locations are [SL] Blogger Support's Simwide Locations , Second Life - Beautiful SIMs, and the SL Tourist Board. I ended up finding a beautiful artistic, expressive waterscape SIM called Just Visiting.

(Speaking of photographs, when I look at this photograph I feel a sense of pride. I am pleased with how far my editing skills have come over the past few months. #Tootingmyownhorn)

Wake the White Queen


All this time I have yet to make it to FAIR. It's not for lack of interest, it's just been one of those things I've not had a chance to do. #slackblogger. I went today, though. And though I have very little use for formal wear, I find myself going gaga over it. This dress from Apple May is probably one of the best pieces of mesh I've seen on the market. The textures are wonderful, but more importantly it moves very well and it was very fun to pose in. 

Truth came out with two new releases on Friday (which is known around the grid as Truth Day.) I'm still hoping one day he will make me a braid that goes down the back (yes, I know there are other versions of braids and braids from other hair makers) because I've wanted a 'cranberry' braid for forever now. Even though I'm still hopeful, I love it when he releases a more editorial hair such as this nice windswept coif. 

See my necklace and earrings? They are from the newest jewelry store on the grid. It's called Cae and you can find the location in the Truth District. Cae is owned by Cae Hancroft, the author of Simply Stylish. I've been following Cae's blog since I learned SL blogs existed. I've always loved her taste and style, which is classic and chic. Both of which have been inherited in her original mesh creations. Keep up the awesome work, Cae!

Night Fever


I haven't blogged in a bit (at least for me) because it was time for an inventory overhaul. On top of that, I decided to move into a more photogenic and amazing house, which I will surely blog about later. After I'm done decorating it. But, in all honesty, I've been having a hard time with inspiration. See, to me, a blog is like an art project. Especially a fashion blog. I've got an armload of reviewables, so it's not lack of content. Too, there's the house. But, I don't know, I've had a hard time seeking that inspiration for the perfect photo. 

Today, though, today I was going to blog! And everything fell into place. It's a good day! The Vintage Fair is in full swing, so I wanted to do something a little different and fall back into my original idealisms for my blog - which isn't always about the latest release, or this band new round of that event. It's about the look and feel of a photograph, which in my opinion ties the whole thing together. 

So, I found this amazing SIM from the Destination Guide. The Regimade Light Gallery. It's a bit demanding on the graphics, so please be advised of that. But, once you're inside, holy light show, Batman! The lighting and shadows are just perfect.

Also, I'm never taking off these shoes. They are so adorable.

My Care is Like My Shadow


My care is like my shadow laid bare beneath the sun
It follows me at all times and flies when I pursue it

Those are lyrics from the television series "The Virgin Queen", which was a series about one of my favorite characters in history: Queen Elizabeth. This song, sung here by one of my favorite groups, the Medieval Baebes, has been stuck in my head now for days. So, I thought I'd take a photograph inspired from pictures of Queen Elizabeth. This actually turned out to be harder than it looked, but I finally managed to come up with something that inspired me enough to pull out my camera.

At first I searched the grid for a castle to pose in, but eventually I found myself in T-Town, which is an alternate portal of amazingness should you happen to drop by Pixel Mode.

I Should Probably Go Inside


I'm more of a picture-taker than a 'fashionista'. I had a goal in mind to go to Crossing Currents and blog about my new mesh dress from Pixel Mode, but I wound up summoning thunderstorms instead. Most of this was done in photoshop, though I try to keep that second life snapshot rawness to it. Crossing Currents is really a beautiful place. All that ocean and sky...
Oh, and go to Pixel Mode. The doors have recently been opened to reveal a bunch of new outfits. I really, really love the long, flowy maxi dresses.
